DOWSIL 93-104 Ablative Material Kit

Main features

  • Protects surfaces from direct flame and extreme heat exposure
  • Forms a tough char with less than 0.1 mm/s penetration
  • Supports brush, roll, trowel, or molded application methods

Product Description

DOWSIL™ 93-104 Ablative Material Kit is a two-part silicone elastomer formulated to provide thermal protection in severe flame, heat-flux, and high-shear environments. The material forms a tough, tenacious, and durable surface char when exposed to extreme heat and can be cured at room temperature or with accelerated heat. It is trowel-applied or moldable and is designed for protecting launch equipment exposed directly to rocket blasts and external surfaces subjected to atmospheric friction at hypersonic speeds.

Key Features

  • Protective surface char: Forms a tough, tenacious, and durable char that provides flame and heat-flux resistance.
  • Extreme-environment performance: Designed for high-shear, high-heat-flux environments and brief exposure to temperatures above 3000°C.
  • Flexible processing: Two-part material supports room-temperature or accelerated heat curing and can be troweled or molded.
  • Environmental durability: Provides resistance to weathering, moisture, and ozone.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Protecting launch structures exposed directly to flame from rocket blasts
  • Thermal protection in high-shear and high-heat-flux environments
  • Heat shielding external surfaces exposed to atmospheric friction at hypersonic speeds
